Correcting Miscarriages of Justice: the Criminal Cases Review Commission

Wednesday 27 October 2004 5.30pm - 6.30pm

bullet Venue: Trinity College Danson Room

Organised by Trinity College in conjunction with Trinity College Law Society

Speaker: PROFESSOR ZELLICK (Chairman of the Criminal Cases Review Commission)

Professor Zellick took his post as Chairman of the CCRC in November 2003 with new visions for the Commission. The Commission was set up in 1997 to look into alleged and suspected miscarriages of justice in criminal cases.

The barrister and former Vice-Chancellor of the University of London began with the Commission at a time when it was under great demands. This will be an opportunity to see how Professor Zellick continues to deal with the challenges that the Commission faces in this sensitive area of the law, and if his plans for reform and expansion have found their mark.
