Annual Oxford Media Summer Symposium 2004
Broadcasting Governance, Conflict and War

Thursday 22 July 2004

bullet Venue: Said Business School

Organised by Programme in Comparative Media Law & Policy

An international symposium organised by the Programme in Comparative Media Law and Policy at the University of Oxford to take place at the Said Business School, 22 July 2004. In the wake of the dispute between the UK Prime Minister’s office and the BBC during 2003-2004, the governance arrangements of the BBC have come under increasing scrutiny. At times of conflict, there are increasing pressures on media independence from government, and the UK is not alone in experiencing difficulty in agreeing appropriate governance arrangements. After the heat and noise of the public debate on the Hutton Inquiry, this symposium considers the options that are available to those involved in (public, etc.) broadcasting policy in the UK and beyond.

Professionals GBP 100
Registered Students GBP 40

A light lunch in the cafeteria is included.
