What is Criminology? Thursday 1 October 2009 - Friday 2 October 2009 9.30
Organised by Centre for Criminology Criminology is booming around the world. At the same time, however, there is little agreement within the field over the contours of the discipline itself. Most obviously, as in other social sciences, there is considerable disagreement among scholars over methodological issues – i.e. how best to conduct research. More than that, however, the subject matter and the aims of the discipline are also contested. At this two-day conference, leading international scholars will critically discuss the state of the discipline. Drawing on their own research they will present their views of criminology today as well as their sense of and ambitions for how the discipline might develop in the future. We have a limited number of places available. If you would like to register to attend, please contact: Mary Bosworth (mary.bosworth@crim.ox.ac.uk) or Carolyn Hoyle (carolyn.hoyle@crim.ox.ac.uk) |
