The New British Constitution
TBA

Friday 17 October 2008 12.00

bullet Venue: Brasenose College

Organised by Oxford University

Speaker: Professor Bogdanor

This lecture series will deal with the way in which the British constitution has changed since Britain;s entry into the European Communities (as the European Union then was) in 1973, and, more particularly, since 1997. It will ask whether the sovereignty of parliament is still the dominating principle of the constitution, or whether Britain is now becoming a genuine constitutional state. It will analyse the role of the Human Rights Act in the constitution, and also devolution and the referendum.
