The Institute of European and Comparative Law was established in 1995, originally as the Centre for the Advanced Study of European and Comparative Law. The function of the Institute is to develop and further the work of the Oxford University Law Faculty in the fields of European and Comparative Law. This function is served by contributing in various ways to the research and teaching of the Law Faculty in these fields, and by providing a supporting structure of specialised staff and relevant activities.  The Institute is centrally involved in the running of the four-year undergraduate Law with Law Studies in Europe programme, which takes students to Germany, France, Italy or the Netherlands. The Institute is also home to the Oxford University Comparative Law Forum and to the Centre for Competition Law and Policy. The Institute encourages all areas of research within the fields of European and Comparative law and welcomes opportunities to further the development of scholarship within its scope.
